Cassandra Elk
This wonderfully bizarre instrument is called "Vootar", a combination of the words “Voormann-guitar”, as this was built especially for Klaus Voormann to his specifications. He played his first 8 string which was made by Vox as a member of the legendary "Manfred Mann" band in the 60`s (Mighty Quinn, Ha!Ha! said the clown, etc.)
Klaus was closely associated with The Beatles "Revolver" & "Anthology" Albums (Artwork) and played bass for John Lennon´s "Plastic Ono Band" & "Instant Karma", "Imagine" etc. as well as on George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord", "All Things Must Pass" etc. Indeed some people regard him as "the 5th Beatle" because of his contributions to so many of the Beatles solo projects! More details are available on Suzanne O'Brian's website.

Premier Guitar Magazine contacted Redbone Guitar Boutique after hearing that we were in possession of a Vootar. Indeed we do, a left-handed Vootar at that! Click here to read the article in Premire Guitar Magazine about The Vootar. Richard Turner, owner of Redbone, left-handed player, and one who has great respect for Klaus Voormann, contacted Cassandra Elk at the NAMM show in 2008 and commssioned the building of a left-handed model. Before it was shipped to San Antonio, Klaus had his good friend Paul McCartney take the lefty Vootar for a test drive. Well, needless to say, Macca kept it! So Cassandra Elk had to build another lefty for Richard. Like the article says, there are only 3 in the world (so far). Klaus has one, Sir Paul has one, and Redbone Guitar Boutique has one! Who will be the next brave soul? We can get you one. You can contact us by phone at 210-822-4111 or email us here. Redbone Guitar Boutique Direct Email Link
